Am I Eligible for Motability?

To be eligible to join the Motability scheme, you should be in receipt of one of the following: Higher Rate Mobility Component (HRMC) of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

If you choose a Contract Hire package, you don't need to be the driver to benefit from a Motability vehicle. You can nominate up to two drivers, these could be friends, relatives or carers. Parents or guardians can also apply on behalf of a child aged three years and over.

You must have at least 12 months award length remaining if you choose the Contract Hire scheme. If you choose to take a Motability car on a Hire Purchase agreement, it is generally expected that you will be receiving the allowance for the full length of the agreement.

Nominated drivers must not have any serious driving convictions, disqualifications, or endorsements within the last five years. What Does a Motability Car Include?

There are two options available through the Motability scheme: Hire Purchase and Contract Hire. The most popular option is the worry-free Contract Hire scheme, which covers not just the car but also the maintenance. A Contract Hire Motability vehicle typically includes:

• Tyres
• Insurance
• Road fund tax
• Servicing, maintenance and repairs
• Breakdown cover
• Window or windscreen replacement
• PLUS a new car every three years

Motability Managed Adaptations Programme

The Motability Managed Adaptations Programme makes it easier than ever to adapt your Motability vehicle to meet your needs, often at little or no additional cost. A fully trained member of the Motability team at Baylis can help you select the adaptations that you require. We can then order these adaptations in the dealership at the same time as you order your new car.
