An update to Vauxhall’s ever-popular Corsa supermini also signalled the arrival of a refreshed Corsavan in line with the same styling and performance upgrades. This commercially-focused model delivers a greater payload than its predecessor, making it an attractive prospect for those who want robust carrying abilities with small car practicality.
The new Corsavan’s dimensions may be unchanged from the previous example, yet it arrives with a stylish new look. Based on the three-door passenger car shape, the condensed panel van has a forward-leaning stance underlined by the sloping, contoured bonnet. Distinctive headlamps feature daytime running lights, surging backwards towards a neat crease running along the waistline. In place of each rear side window is a body-coloured panel to keep cargo hidden from prying eyes, and Vauxhall offers a choice of seven paint shades to finish the exterior in line with your tastes. Alloy wheels and front fog lights are two premium details included with the range-topping Sportive spec.
Beneath the body is a durable loadspace capable of carrying up to 571 litres of cargo – a jump of 21 litres. Separating the rear section from the cockpit is a half-height steel bulkhead, while load restraint lashing eyes allow items to be safely secured when in transit. At the front the cabin enables the driver and passenger to travel in comfort, with front door pockets and drinks holders presenting various storage options.
Shifting a full load with ease is one of three refined engines – one petrol and two diesels. The sole petrol is a 69bhp 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit that returns a superb 51.5mpg and emits only 128g/km of CO2. For diesel power you can choose from the 1.3-litre CDTI, tuned with either 74bhp or 94bhp.
Whichever is chosen, the standard Corsavan will return 72.4mpg and release only 102g/km, meaning satisfyingly low road tax for buyers. An Ecoflex variant is also available for those with slightly higher budgets, which sees emissions fall to 90g/km and fuel economy leap to 83.1mpg.
The Corsavan’s excellent build translates to exceptional safety credentials, and the addition of various intelligent active systems boosts its strength in this area. As standard there’s Electronic Stability Programme plus (ESP-plus) with traction control for an assured ride, alongside cornering brake control, emergency brake assist, adaptive brake lights and hill start assist. In the highly unlikely event of an accident occurring there are driver, passenger and curtain airbags to protect both occupants, plus a pedal release system which prevents potential injuries following a frontal collision.
As standard there’s plenty of technology inside for entertainment and optimum connectivity, too. The audio system includes Bluetooth®, AUX input, a digital radio and USB connectivity with iPod® control. Steering wheel-mounted controls allow simple and safe command of these various functions, which you can upgrade to include an optional IntelliLink touchscreen infotainment system featuring internet services and satellite navigation.
The new Corsavan is the ideal workmate for commercial customers needing dependable performance from their vehicle, and it’s available at Baylis Vauxhall in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire today. Enquire now for more details and to book a test drive soon.
