Shackleton & Wintle were established in 1978 and now employee around 100 staff. Based in Cheltenham, the firm covers the South West, providing all aspects of plumbing, heating and renewable works. The business has a wide portfolio of clients ranging from private landlords to major housing developers.
Shackleton & Wintle currently operate a fleet of over sixty vehicles, which is constantly reviewed and upgraded to ensure reliability, reduce maintenance costs on older vans, and to ensure a professional image is presented to both clients and the public.
Sarah Jones, the company’s Domestic Services Manager, said “A full review was undertaken before choosing to buy Vauxhall, which involved cost comparisons against a number of competitors, a review of our existing fleet maintenance history, and the support levels offered by Baylis locally.” “The Vivaro was considered a known quantity as it makes up the majority of our existing fleet and has performed well, Sarah added.
“ All the trade reviews on the new vehicles indicated it would be of an improved standard with good reliability. “The Combo van was chosen after a trial period and performed its designated task better than the competition. We wanted a medium sized van, with good storage space that was economic around town but had the capability for longer journeys and decent payloads. They will also be real ‘eye catchers’ due to the graphic designs on each van.”
“We selected Baylis as our supplier due to the company’s reputation for high service levels and direct contact with the manufacturer. These factors meant we were able to place the order with a degree of confidence in the support we would receive.”
The vans will be used by Shackleton & Wintle’s engineers who provide a service to a wide demographic from large letting agents down to the individual client who has used and trusted the business for a number of years. The emphasis on employing local people who treat everyone as an individual and have a real understanding of the industry and new technologies is a key factor in the continued development of the company.
Baylis is one of the leading locally managed motor groups, employing over 260 staff at its seven branches throughout the Three Counties. Like Shackleton & Wintle, Baylis is very much involved with the local community through charitable projects and sponsorships.
