The Assistant Manager job involves all or some of the following tasks:

  • Assist the ARC manager in the day today running of the Accident Repair Centre department with the following objectives
  • To optimise bodyshop profitability whilst maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Meeting or exceeding standards set by manufacturers and work providers
  • Meeting or exceeding departmental budgets agreed with your manager
  • Maintain a healthy and friendly atmosphere at work
  • Identify work providers and networks with insurance assessors to promote the department and seek opportunities for additional work
  • Provide courtesy cars where contractually required, supplying adequate vehicles of the correct standard and maintenance levels
  • Ensure that the estimators provide estimates in the agreed format to work providers for potential work to be completed
  • Negotiate with insurance assessors regarding individual jobs
  • Complete varied benchmarking and yardstick information and general administrative tasks to meet manufacturer and work provider requirements
  • Secure workflow to meet volume objectives
  • Monitor efficiency and work processes to ensure optimum output of the correct quality, whilst minimising cost
  • Source and negotiate with external overflow suppliers to ensure all work can be completed within the agreed time and to the correct quality and standard
  • Develop a good working relationship with manufacturers, work providers and all other departments
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as requested by a superior

Knowledge Required:

The ASSISTANT MANAGER must have knowledge of:

The preparation, processing, and interpretation of ARC orders

  • Automotive systems and repair techniques (manufacturing, paint finishes)
  • Establishing and implementing best practices systems and processes
  • Warranty guidelines and ability to relate warranty guidelines to warranty repair orders
  • Manufacturer consultative customer handling processes
  • Invoicing and billing processes and procedures
  • In-house computer systems
  • Relevant local, national, and European regulations and laws pertaining to the automotive industry
  • Vehicle legislation, consumer legislation, and trade practices
  • Manufacturer’s standards and objectives, retail facility and individual objectives, both cultural and financial
  • Complete a high level of paperwork paying close attention to administrative details
  • Maintain records and complete routine paperwork
  • Demonstrate a professional appearance and an enthusiastic attitude
  • Remain positive in stressful situations and work in a busy, active, lively environment
  • Work inside and outside in all weathers
  • Work off-site when conducting some estimates
