Everyone at Baylis took part in some way - whether it was buying a cake at a coffee morning, wearing a silly hat or Christmas jumper, growing a moustache or just purchasing a raffle ticket. Others have run marathons, trekked through the night across the Cotswolds, taken part in sporting events and saddled up for sponsored cycle rides - all to help others less fortunate than themselves. Sterling efforts by individuals were additionally contributed to by the company, which has a policy of giving something back to the local community.
Down the years sponsorship has been given to local sports clubs, from grass roots level to semi-professional teams. Schools, youth football, netball and cricket sides have all benefited from kit sponsorship thanks to Baylis and Vauxhall.
Baylis have regularly supported BEN - the UK’s dedicated charity for those who work, or have worked, in the automotive and related industries, as well as their dependents. In 2018
additional support through employee fundraising benefitted the NSPCC, Macmillan Cancer Care, Alzheimer's, Children in Need, Save The Children and Action Medical Research. Christmas collections also netted a significant contribution to Pied Piper's 'tonne of toys' appeal, which gave presents to sick and disabled children.
Monthly draws have taken place throughout the year, with the winning employee choosing his or her favourite charity to receive £150, donated by the company. Last year recipients included the Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome Trust, New Start Cat Rescue, Lymphoma Fundraising Association, Starlight Children's Foundation, The Fetal Anti-Convulsion Syndrome Association, Diabetes UK, the Leukaemia & Intensive Chemotherapy Fund, The British Heart Foundation, Gloucestershire Trefoil Guild, Cancer Research UK and Hereford & Worcester Animal Rescue.
Baylis is one of the largest independently run motor groups in the Three Counties, with eight Vauxhall garages throughout Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire - plus two multi-franchise used car operations.
The group will continue to help the community throughout 2019. If you have any suggestions for good causes which might need support, do please get in touch.
